Ancient Stagira & Mount Athos Cruise
Embark on a captivating journey that blends history, nature, and spirituality. Our day begins with a scenic drive past the serene lakes of Koronia and Volvi, wetlands of international importance, and along the historic Castle of Rentina, where the tragic poet Euripides took his last breath. Passing through the Strymonian Gulf and the village of Stavros, we enter Halkidiki’s stunning coastline. Our first stop is the archaeological site of Ancient Stagira, birthplace of Aristotle, the great philosopher and mentor of Alexander the Great. Explore the acropolis and uncover the rich history of this unique location. From here, we continue to the port of Ouranoupolis, gateway to Mount Athos. Board a boat and enjoy a majestic sea cruise along the Athos Peninsula. Sail past the southern tip, reaching a stunning view of the highest peak of Mount Athos at 2,033 meters, then follow the western coast for close-up views of eight historic monasteries, a spiritual center of Orthodoxy for over a thousand years. Learn stories of this mysterious and sacred land, where entrance has been traditionally forbidden to women since Byzantine times. After returning to Ouranoupolis, enjoy free time for swim or lunch with breathtaking views over the Singitic Gulf, Mount Athos, and the Sithonia Peninsula.
