7 days cruise to Ionian Islands

During this carefree sailing holiday, we visit the Ionian Islands, Corfu and Paxoi, after cruising along the country’s west coast and viewing the Ionian Sea. The islands are well known for their beautiful sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, charming villages and stunning scenic countryside which is verdant and flourishing with greenery and nature. Each Ionian island has a distinct character and between them, they offer everything you could wish for from a Greek Island holiday. You will have the chance to practice venturesome sailing in less busy waters and some open-water sailing.

Suggested program:
1st day
Arrival at Sivota, a settlement built on a small and narrow bay, on Thesprotia’s cosmopolitan waterfront. Sivota gulf, the small islets and skerries, the small bays, the blue crystal clear waters and the vegetation form an astonishing picture of green and blue colours and of unique natural beauty. A point of attraction for a large number of visitors every year. Here we will enjoy a welcome dinner at a local traditional restaurant. You can take also the opportunity to explore this lively town, enjoy the party atmosphere of the town’s nightlife or just have a cosy rest on board.

2nd day
We start our sailing day by heading to the islets of Sivota with small beaches which are covered by dense lush green vegetation. We continue sailing to nearby beaches like Naftilos Bay, Kokkinos Vrachos Beach, and Kalami Beach, all are small beaches with white pebbles, crystal clear waters and green vegetation that surrounds them. By night we will be at Platarias, a tranquil little port with a well-serviced marina and sandy white beaches, which make a fitting backdrop for some excellent restaurants. Platarias is a peaceful heaven just waiting to be discovered.

3rd day
The day begins sailing towards to Corfu, the second largest and greenest Ionian island. It was Homer’s “beautiful and rich land”, and Odysseus’ last stop on his journey home to Ithaca. We will spend the morning in the town accompanied by our professional guide to discover the most beautiful spots and the most important attractions. The town’s architecture, culture, and cuisine are a harmonious blend of Italian and French, with a contemporary Greek feel. Later on, we will have lunch with the island’s unique local dishes, which are deeply influenced by Venetian cuisine and complete the meal by indulging in a delicious local sweet. The evening will be free for everyone to merge into the town’s cosmopolitan old and new sections. We will anchor in the town’s port for the night.

4th day
We head to Paxos Island, a small 10km by 4km size island which offers possibly the best Ionian experience. We head to Lakka, a picturesque, tranquil and unspoiled harbour which lies at the end of an almost circular bay on the north coast. You are spoilt for choice of where to eat, with the bars and taverns offering a wide choice of excellent Greek delicacies. Seize the day with swimming, snorkelling and a lot of fun in the crystal blue waters of the Ionian Sea.

5th day
We start sailing to Gaios, the island’s small and well-equipped capital. On our way innumerable ravishing beaches await us to discover! Reaching Gaios from a northerly direction we will pass by two small islands, the first at the mouth of Gaios harbour is called Panayia (Virgin Mary) on which there is a splendid white monastery. The other is St Nicholas Island with its Venetian fortress. We will anchor at the capital and we will have a lot of time to scroll through its cream and whitewashed buildings line, and the town’s Venetian square. For those who really want to relax a trip to the areas of Ozias, Yana and Glyfada can be organised where sulphur thermal springs* offer an alternative treatment for rheumatism and beauening purposes.

6th day
On day six we set sail to Parga, the only true resort of the Epiros Riviera, and one that has something for everyone. Set inside a curving bay crowned by a Venetian castle and flanked by golden beaches, Parga is an aesthetic pleasure, with its exquisite aquamarine waters balanced by lush green olive-clad hills, little islets and white-plastered houses stacked on winding, flowery streets above a colourful waterfront. Here we will have the opportunity to reveal the secrets of the city accompanied by a professional local guide*. We will end our day with a farewell dinner at one of these wonderful beaches that surround the city.
